Animation: Burbank High School
Burbank High School's Animation program, led by instructor Jonelle Pickett, provides students with a rigorous three-course pathway built around real industry mentorships — most notably a long-running partnership with Nickelodeon — that has launched graduates into careers at Disney, Nickelodeon, Warner Bros., and beyond.
Music & Recording Arts: Lawndale High School
Lawndale High School of Centinela Valley Union High School District is a Title I school serving predominantly Latinx and Black students. Luis Rodriguez is the School Site Pathway Coordinator. The school currently has a three course Music and Recording Arts pathway with a dual enrollment articulation program in its final stages of development with El Camino College.
Game Design: Culver City High School
Culver City High School is a diverse urban high school, located in Los Angeles. Kian Darien is the Game Design teacher for Game Design I & II. When his program received the Epic Mega Grant from Epic Games, Darien went to work on designing a curriculum that encompassed a broad survey of game development. Students explore a variety of roles including Production, Design, Art, Coding, and Testers and work on game development teams.
Film: Culver City High School
Culver City Unified School District is a diverse urban high school, located in central Los Angeles in close proximity to many studios and creative industry companies. Holly Gable is the Creative Director and Film Teacher.
Film: Santa Ana High School
Santa Ana High School is a title 1, predominantly latinx, urban high school. Eric Timmons is the lead Cinematic Arts Teacher and the VAPA Department Chair. Saintly Films strives to elevate underrepresented Latinx voices through work-based learning opportunities in media production.
Live Events: Santa Susana High School
Located just outside of Los Angeles, Santa Susana High School is a vibrant community of learners focused on demonstrating outstanding scholarship, skill, service and honor in the areas of Accelerated Academics, Technical Arts, and Visual Performing Arts. As a magnet school, Santa Susana High School attracts students who expect to share the benefits of a smaller school campus, while being challenged by a rigorous and relevant academic curriculum and top-notch elective program, while preparing for both college and career.
Design: Arcata High School
Arcata High School is an under-resourced rural high school, located in northern California in Humbolt County. Johanna Mauro is the Director of the Arcata Arts Institute (AAI) and Media Arts teacher.
Media Arts: J.C. Montgomery
Kings County Office of Education in conjunction with the Kings County Probation Department operates J.C. Montgomery School and serves incarcerated youth in Kings County. The purpose of J.C. Montgomery School is to provide high quality education and personal growth opportunities to incarcerated youth in a challenging, safe and supportive learning environment.
