Model AED Pathway: Media Arts
Kings County Office of Education in conjunction with the Kings County Probation Department operates J.C. Montgomery School and serves incarcerated youth in Kings County. The purpose of J.C. Montgomery School is to provide high quality education and personal growth opportunities to incarcerated youth in a challenging, safe and supportive learning environment.

Introductory Course: Media Arts- Stories with Style
Industry Partners
J.C. Montgomery has many industry partners including Josh Levine with Josh Matthews Creative, who has supported the Stories with Style curriculum for the past 4 years.
They have also partnered with Dr. Elliot Gann, Dr. Raphael Travis, and Jaret Johnson. Other partners include Urbanist Collective, Music Forward Foundation, TAP animation project and Berklee College of Music.
Industry Partner Engagement
The program has a variety of projects that engage students and industry partners. The Stories with Style curriculum is something J.C. Montgomery is particularly proud of. And Josh Levine, who helps produce the project, is directly involved.
Jaret Johnson offers students djembe lessons. Dr. Elliott Gann from Today's Future Sound led beat making workshops showing students how to use professional equipment and trained staff on his therapeutic beat making model/working with students' who've experienced complex trauma. Dr. Raphael Travis, professor at Texas State University and author of The Healing Power of Hip Hop, showed students how to analyze songs through his individual and community empowerment framework.
There is also the TAP animation project. The Urbanist Collective works with students to create stickers and a mural for the school site.
Work Based Learning
The work based learning that takes place is informally through teaching them skills about how to market themselves and their Art. They have understanding of contracts and resumes.
